Overview

Sosi ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users download media (images, videos) and capture visible Threads posts as images from threads.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension does and does not collect.

Data Collection

Sosi does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data or browsing activity.

  • We do not collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or contact details.
  • We do not track your browsing history or online activity.
  • We do not use cookies, analytics, or any third-party tracking services.
  • We do not send any data to external servers.

How the Extension Works

The Extension operates entirely within your browser:

  • Content Script: Runs on threads.com pages to detect media elements (images, videos) and posts, adding download/capture buttons to the page UI.
  • Background Service Worker: Handles download requests using Chrome's built-in chrome.downloads API. Downloads go directly to your local device.
  • Tab Capture: The activeTab permission is used solely to capture the visible area of a Threads post for PNG export – all processing happens locally.

Permissions Justification

  • downloads: Required to save media files (images, videos) to your device's download folder.
  • activeTab: Required to capture the visible portion of a Threads post as a PNG image. Only activated when you explicitly click the capture button.
  • host_permissions (threads.com): Required for the content script to detect and interact with media elements on Threads pages.

Third-Party Sharing

Since we do not collect any data, no information is shared with, sold to, or accessible by any third parties. The Extension has no network requests to external servers beyond what is necessary to download the media you explicitly request from Threads' own CDN.

Children's Privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
